How this site treats your notes
Last updated September 22, 2026. RACES RATED is a public race calendar with shared course reviews. This page is the privacy note and the terms of use. It is not a substitute for official race rules.
Privacy
- Reviews are public. A published note shows on that race for anyone, with the year raced and the stars. It stays with the race when the date changes. A name shows only if you signed in and chose to put it on that note. Otherwise the note has no name.
- Do not put personal details in a review. Emails, phone numbers, social handles, and links are blocked on submit. If one gets through, anyone can report it and it comes off the card.
- Reports are not tied to a person. A report stores the reason and which review it is about. It does not store a reporter account, because reading and reporting do not require sign-in.
- Hidden is not erased. A hidden review leaves the public card and the averages. The row stays so it can be restored. It is not shown to visitors.
- An account is optional. Create one only if you want a name on your notes. We store the email, a password hash, and the name you pick. A 6-digit code is emailed before the account can be used, and again if you reset the password. We keep a hash of that code until it expires or you enter it. The email does not appear on the review. You can still post with no name, with or without an account.
- Writing in. A note from the contact page stores your email and the message, and is sent to [email protected]. It is not posted on a race.
- What is stored. The race catalog, reviews, reports, useful marks, and — only if you create an account — your email, password hash, name, and a sign-in cookie. Reviews are not sold or used for ads. Browsing the calendar does not require an account.
Terms of use
- The calendar is a planning aid. Dates, cities, and course notes can be wrong or out of date. Confirm the event on the official race site before you enter, travel, or pay.
- By publishing a review you allow RACES RATED to show it on that race, including after the edition date rolls forward. If you choose to show your name, that name is public with the note. Post only what you are allowed to share, and only about the course: swim, bike, run, weather, aid, hills, crowd, and value.
- Honest low scores are allowed. Names, contact details, ads, hate, harassment, and illegal content are not. The site can hide a note that breaks those rules. Hiding does not delete the row.
- You use the site as it is. Race choices, training, and travel are yours. RACES RATED is not the race organizer and is not responsible for an event changing or for a decision you make from a review.
